Help with Stash It

It's just me making Stash It, so the best way to reach me is email: stashit@mikecann.app. Let me know what happened and whether it was on the iPhone app, the Chrome extension or the web app (a screenshot helps loads) and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

How do I sign in?

With Apple or Google, in the iPhone app or at stashit.mikecann.app. Your Apple and Google sign-ins are two separate accounts, even if they've got the same email address, so pick one and sign in that way every time. If you use the other one by mistake you'll get a new, empty stash, but don't worry, yours is still there and comes back as soon as you sign in the usual way.

How do I set up the Chrome extension?

Install it from the Chrome Web Store, then click its icon in the toolbar (it might be hiding under the jigsaw piece) and press Sign in. That opens Stash It in a new tab where you sign in with Apple or Google, and once it says the extension's connected you can close the tab. From then on, clicking the icon stashes whatever page you're on.

Does it work offline?

The iPhone app does. Everything in your stash is saved on your phone, so you can open it with no signal and read the saved copy. Anything you do while you're offline waits on the phone and goes through once you've got signal again. The web app and the Chrome extension need a connection.

Why does an article look wrong, or come up empty?

Stash It saves a copy of each article by pulling the text out of the page, and some sites make that hard, like ones you have to be signed in to or ones built mostly out of JavaScript. When you've got signal the reader opens the real page anyway, and you can switch between the two at the top. If a site you read a lot comes out badly, send me the link and I'll have a look.

I binned something by mistake. Can I get it back?

If it was in the last 30 days, yes. It's in the Trash, under Me in the iPhone app, where you can put it back.

How do I delete my account?

In the iPhone app, go to Me and tap Delete account. That deletes your account and everything in it from Stash It's server, and you can't undo it. The privacy policy has the details. If you can't get into the app, email me from the address you signed in with and I'll do it for you.
